Guest guest
Mike, you and as always, :0) have sound advise. Hailey, I approved your membership but haven’t gotten to send your welcome letter yet. I’m , diagnosed at 19, extremely severe onset, all classic symptoms, now 54 years old and in remission for quite a few years. I’d like to share I had the rash and it did go away. I was on steroids at the time and that caused an acne type condition of the skin but I did not scratch as advised especially on my face and it did go away without scarring :0) too. The weight gain from medications did go away as well. Some medication side affects are as bad if not harder than the disease at times depending on how severe your case may be, but I would like to offer you hope that I have always been blessed to have the best of care and as the medicines that my disease responded to worked I got better and better. It often doesn’t happen fast but given how bad it can be, I am and know many others that are, so grateful for any and all stages of improvements and keep on looking for the next improvement whenever it comes again. I took Naprosyn until just two years ago and although there are many anti-inflammatories available, it always worked the best for me. It is hard on the stomach as many of the medications we take are, and you should always be aware of protecting that or asking your doctor how best to. Many of our members have had pregnancies after the onset of Still’s and did well, some have special medical needs during these times. Something that helps you and your doctor greatly especially when having flares and at onset is to keep a small journal of fevers, activities and joint problems or body symptoms. And not to be forgotten is that our lives in so many ways are changed. My doctor has always talked to me about how I am doing emotionally because it, the changes, and stress can so affect how well or not we do with this disease and helping keep the flares away. Rest is also the one natural thing we can do to help our body quit attacking itself with the disease. Our member that suggested the brochures was right. The Still’s foundation’s website is at www.stillsdisease.org and there is so much information, articles and peoples histories, etc there that it will help a lot. The front page has the link for the free brochures by mail. Thanks for getting through my longest email in some time, lol. Hope you didn’t rest yet and fall asleep.
