If you have lymphatic swelling in your arm I would recommend you check with

someone who deals with lymphedema  - usually an occupational therapist - and

you would need a physician referral - they deal mostly with women with swelling

after mastectomy but it can occur anytime the lymph system is blocked - arms and

legs - they have compression sleeves and various therapies to improve the lymph

flow

Talk to your doctor about checking it out - it could help a lot

Jo,

I would accept your advice if it were the neighbor telling me things, but I was

talking about my shoulder surgeon who is one of the best in the US (at the

Cleveland Clinic which ranks #4 in orthopedics in the US). I have now had 3

major surgeries on my shoulder each of which did damage to add to that which was

done by the motorcycle. My surgeon said that he had great difficulty telling

structures apart because all of the scar tissue and deterioration has " melted

everything together in an unholy mess " . My lymphic system is damaged and he was

saying that there is a good chance it may not recover all the way given the

persistence of the swelling since March.

Thank you, . Your advice is right on but I am already seeing a physical

therapist who knows her stuff. The problem is that the soft tissues of my

shoulder are, as the doc put it, extremely thin and in very poor condition. My

muscles need to move to stimulate the lymph system but moving them much at all

causes the swelling. If I can get past this stage of fragility and build some

strength, I will hopefully have a lot less swelling assuming the lymph system

can recover.

Thanks again,

Margie
