Tisa, who has a Gurnee office on Greenleaf Street and another in Antioch, was charged with purchasing more than an ounce of cocaine from undercover investigators. The cocaine-dealing charge is a Class X offense and a conviction carries a mandatory prison sentence of six to 30 years. Possession is a Class One offense, and a conviction carries a maximum sentence of four to 15 years in prison, but is also probationable. Tisa, who has been a foot doctor in Lake County for more than 19 years, previously made arrangements to purchase the drug with undercover investigators of the Waukegan Police Department, said Shanes, chief of the drug prosecutions division in the Lake County State's Attorney's office. The actual sale was completed in the parking lot of Tisa's Gurnee office, and afterwards he went inside with the drugs, according to court records. Shanes said Tisa was arrested after paying $1,200 for 31 grams of cocaine. The transaction was recorded on audio tape, he added. In bond court later Wednesday morning, Circuit Court Associate Judge set bond at $20,000 and scheduled a hearing today for status of attorney. Outside of court, Shanes said, " This is a disturbing case. It shows the scourge of narcotics affects people from all walks of life. " Tisa is a Libertyville resident.09/11/03 yes this is my old boss of about 3 weeks back. i thanked my new boss today for saving me!! guess i won't be getting my last paycheck. someone did bail him out. i drove by the office on my way home and the police were there taking out computers . i've had such a bad week and kept saying i need a good luck charm. on the way home after reading the news i thought y'know you must have some good luck. you got out of there just in time!! kathy in il i feel sorry for his wife and 5 children. Guest guest
Kathi, You got out just in the nick of time! No wonder you didn't get paid when you were supposed to and then got checks that bounced! A doctor who had a practice in my small town lost his license because he tested positive for cocaine. This was not the first time. I had been to this doctor a couple of times, and I also had been going there to get my bloodwork done, and they'd fax it to my rheumatologist. The nurse who drew my blood just said that he was taking some time off. His employees were put in such a bad position, having to lie for him. Then a few months later it came out in the paper. By that time, I had already started going somewhere else for my bloodwork, not because of the cocaine because I didn't know about it. If he ever gets his license back, I won't be going to him again! You would think that a physician would be the last person on earth to get hooked on cocaine. It's such a pity that their education and training has to go to waste.
