Guest guest
While we are on the subject of Publix, I'd like to relate my experiences with Publix here in Macon. It's always been my favorite store. There is Kroger, FoodMax, FoodLion etc. but I've always been attracted to Publix. When it came time for us to do the diet, I asked Terry why she was going to Kroger. I hate Kroger...it's very impersonal and they act like they're doing you a favor by taking your money. I went to Mike, the manager at Publix and told him of Sam and Abbie and our desire to put them on the GFCF diet. He asked what kind of things we would need. He asked for a list. I gave him the list. It took a while, but the next thing I know, I'm in the store one day and I here, " Hey Ron. " I turn around and there's Mike the manager. He said he had talked with his district manager and oddly enough the regional manager had just put in a memo to all the stores in this region to make room for gluten free/casein free foods. Too cool. Mike was genuinely pleased to be able to help. I thanked him very much. A week or two later, sure enough, they have all the breads, ice cream etc. that I had asked for. The next thing I know, I here, " Hey Ron. " Again, I turn around. Mike the manager again. He asked how my kids were doing. I gave the standared, " Pretty good, " not really wanting to get into the poop smearing, no sleeping, ill as cat shit kids who were no doubt rasing hell at home while I was shopping. " Do they like waffles? " he asks. " Well, yeah, " I said, " It's one of their favorite things to eat. " " Hang on, " he says, " I'll be right back. " Here comes Mike briskly walking down the aisle a minute later with a case of waffles. " The warehouse sent us too many waffles, " Mike explains. " Here take these off my hands will ya. " " I was flabergasted. " Anyone who has followed the diet knows how spendy the items are. I couldn't thank him enough. And this is why, as long there is a Publix around me, I will spend my money there. Everyone knows my name, the kids names...the pharmacy is right there and so is my bank. Ron...who sometimes fails to recognize that the majority of people in this world are good.
