Date: Mon, 10 Jan 2000 15:57:47 EST Hi everyone, I just got back from my Dr's appt. It was a long visit because I had many questions, and some complaints about the resident, and nurse that cared for me while I was in the hospital. I had asked in the group if Portal Gastropathy could happen in a patient that didn't have Cirrhosis. My Dr. gave me the answer. He said that I am in the early stages of Cirrhosis, but not near liver failure yet. I questioned this, because my previous GI had said I was in the early stages of PSC. My GI (now) does not believe that, my disease has progressed, and I'm no longer considered " early stages " . Another thing that I mentioned to him, is that I keep finding broken blood vesseles on my belly, and sides. He looked at my back, and the back of my neck, and they are there as well. He said that this is an indication that my liver disease is now " showing itself " . Does anyone else have a problem with varicous veins (sp), all over their body? I have now been diagnosed with IBS, and he has prescribed medication for it. Hopefully it will cut down on some of the swelling in my belly, and maybe even the nausea. Over all, I was a little discouraged by this visit, because of the fact that it's evident my disease has progressed... but then again, he just confirmed what I, and a few others in the group have said. Good news is, even though I have portal Gastropathy, it hasn't shown itself in my esophogus yet. (Varices) Love,
