Guest guest
Question: Why Won't My Doctor Diagnose Me With Chronic Fatigue Syndrome? A few months ago, I got what I thought was the flu but it didn't go away. Since then, I've been exhausted no matter how much I sleep. I've done a lot of research online and I really think I have chronic fatigue syndrome. My doctor has done a lot of testing and hasn't found anything. When I brought up chronic fatigue syndrome, my doctor said that wasn't something to consider at this point. Now I'm just confused. Why won't my doctor consider that I might have chronic fatigue syndrome? Answer: The chronic fatigue syndrome (ME/CFS) diagnosis is a complicated one. Making matters even more difficult is the fact that not all doctors believe ME/CFS is a valid diagnosis. You may want to ask your doctor whether this is a diagnosis he or she would consider. Then, if the testing process leaves you without answers, you may want to consider finding a doctor who would be willing to look into ME/CFS. Even for doctors who are willing to diagnose ME/CFS, though, it's a long, difficult process.
