Tim & Others,

I have a weird thing that's happened with Kennedy as of late and was wondering

if any of you could provide me with some help. We had a little mishap in the

tub a few weeks back, Graeme leaned over to turn the taps off and Kennedy was

splashing and getting excited so much (as she loved her bath SO much) and she

fell back and her whole head went under the water. It was only for a split

second and she was fine once he got her up, she splashed, laughed and played as

usual. She had a couple baths after, as well as another trip to the big local

aquatic center for playing in the kiddie pool and was fine.

Here's the kicker, after those couple of baths, etc, she just started FREAKING

when she saw we were getting ready for the bath, putting her in, and during the

WHOLE bath. It's so sad to watch as she was a little girl who adored her bath

before this and would cry when we took her OUT. Could this have been a delayed

reaction? Nothing happened in the interim either so we are REALLY stumped. Any

ideas on how I can get her to like it again? She shakes like a leaf and just

screams the whole time. I feel awful about it. I've even gotten in and wrapped

my legs and arms around her to help her feel more secure with no results, even

her big brother (who is her WORLD) got in with her and she still screamed. If

anyone can help I " d really appreciate it...

Thanks,

Hi !

Exact same thing happened with (including the delayed

fear). He was laying on his back in shallow water and turned his

head and took a little in. It took a long time, but he now LOVES

his bath again. We had the most success with him joining his

sister in playing with toys in a small tub of water and progressing

from there. Mommy bathing with him helped slightly in that he

could cling to me and cry and he stayed in for a while. He now

puts his own head under water-go figure!

Cheryl,

That's reassuring, thank you. She did perk up last night as my friend's 5 yr

old was in there singing to her and she stopped crying near the end and actually

played again, I think it's just going to be slow going. But, I felt a LOT

better after last night let me tell ya!
