Made me chuckle to think of what might go wrong with some of the

simple tests conducted at a routine physical. e.g. the knee jerk

or the hand grip tests. It would have to be something pretty

bizarre to result in complications. But I suspect that there is

at least one case of things going awry when the patient was

asked to squeeze the doctors fingers.

Tim,

Speaking of that test, I stupidly asked one of my patients to squeeze my

fingers one day, forgetting completely about my arthritis. Needless to

say I've never done that again. It was soooo painful. So even when the

test doesn't affect the patient, it can have dire consequences.

Thanks, I think, for making me remember that event.
