Guest guest
Hi all! I don't usually post, my oldest daughter is getting ready to have a baby, so I've been pretty preoccupied with her and with all the many responsibilities with my other children (I have eight in all). My five year old son, Mikael, has been diagnosed with PSC. Any way, I recently discovered a product called " SAMe " . I bought it for my own depression. Apparently it has worked wonders in many, many people with chronic, debilitating depression. While reading up on this product, I also read that it has been used with success to help normalize liver function in patients with cirrhosis, hepatitis and cholestasis (blockage of the bile ducts). SAMe has also been found to prevent or reverse liver damage caused by certain drugs. Has any one else heard of this product? It has been in use in many countries for about 20 years, but has only recently made it's way to the USA. Many doctors are poo-pooing it (which is not surprising) because they say not enough is known about it. It is sold by prescription in England and elsewhere, and in the countries where it has been used for a while, remarkable success has been achieved for treating depression, arthritis, liver disorders and a number of other things as well. You can buy it over the counter at GNC stores. SAMe is not an herb but a compound that our bodies make from methionine, and amino acid found in protein-rich foods. It's pretty fascinating. I'm definitely interested in learning all I can about it. I'd also like to find a doctor that might be willing to let Mikael try it under supervision. Nothing else seems to work all that well, why not give it a try? If anyone else has heard of this or tried it, please respond. Thanks! Love,
