Guest guest
Hello all, I just finished my tea when a program came on the TV about the 100th Liver TX in Ireland. In the cameras went into the theater and watched as the surgeons cut the old liver out and installed the new liver. They explained and showed how they prepare the tx liver after it arrives in the hospital etc. This case a woman had 24-48 hours to live and a aircraft was chartered to fly the liver in from overseas. 40 tx`s a year approx. are carried out in St. 's hospital in Dublin. 83% success rate so far. The center has been open for a couple of years 2 I think they said, before that we (the Irish) had to go to the UK OR USA. Population of Republic is 3 and a half million, so this is the national tx center for the south of Ireland. I don't know if patients from the north go to the UK or Dublin. They showed us allot of the operation , and showed the surgeons checking the new liver for circulation after it was hooked up, looking at the colour and feeling the texture?. So what the hell am I going on about this for you may ask?. Well I have actually seen the theater and the surgeons I have yet to meet . And the job that will be performed on me by these people. How I felt about seeing exactly were I am going and the people I have yet to meet I do not know yet. I normally let things in a bit at a time. Looking at national TV and seeing the operating theater that I will go in to one day was interesting to say the least. Its like a sneak preview !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! And I now have a complete picture of the journey ahead. I do not know if anybody will find this interesting, but seeing were I am going exactly has reduced some of the apprehension in me. Regards .
