Guest guest
Carole, Welcome to the group. This is a great place to find answers, whine, to get support, to share good times and bad. Hopefully your specialist will be able to give you some meds to help with the pain. We are all in the same boat, its rocky sometimes but there are calm moments. I am happy with my doctor selection though because she goes to my church and is a personal friend. This is good for me, because I am in college, three hours from home, so I am free to call her at home or email her. My bones hurt so bad and just take up so much of my worrying and time. I feel like sometimes the pain will never go away and I will have to live like this for the rest of my life. I know so little about what is going on, other than the pain, and am worried and need support from others who are going through this as well. I would love to chat with anyone, I have Messanger: Carole4Reach Thanks for your help Carole

Guest guest
Carole, I'm sorry that you have RA, but you've come to the right place for support and understanding. We know what you're going through. It sounds as though you will have a great doctor who will be very accessible to you. It might take a while to find the right combination of meds that will help you, but there is hope. Luckily I didn't get RA until I was 63, already retired, my kids already raised. I have a wonderful rheumy who is very caring and compassionate. He first tried methotrexate and prednisone. My white blood cell count was below normal, so he switched me to Arava. That worked well as far as controlling the pain and inflammation, but my WBC count still continued to go down. At that point, he gave me a choice between Enbrel and Humira. I chose Enbrel because it has been out longer. So far, it is working wonderfully well for me. I can still tell that I have RA, but I have very little pain. I hope that it doesn't take long to find the right combination of meds to relieve your pain, which I know can become unbearable at times. Good luck. Guest guest
Carole, welcome to the group! I'm sorry that you are in so much pain and that you are worried about what is to come. Why isn't your current doctor treating your pain? Is that the doctor who is your friend or is the rheumatologist your friend? With the right treatment and monitoring, it is quite likely that you can feel better and get your disease under control. There is much hope. Guest guest
Dear Carole: Welcome to the group, this is a wonderful group I have really enjoyed e-mailing and keeping up on the news how everyone is doing. I was diagnosed with severe RA in 1995 but probably had it a lot longer. I am currently on 3 Enbrel shots per week, 9 mgs. of prednisone and vioxx among other numerous meds for bleeding ulcers and heart problems, but I am happy to report I am doing pretty well, a little stiff today and tired as I have a head cold, but got up and went to church that always makes a body feel loved and feel better. I f I can answer any questions please write to me I am Shirley at Edmis3@.... Welcom e to th e group!! Shirley
