Guest guest
As I was mentioning the " HAL 9000 " computer in the Kubrick's film, do you know what " HAL " means? Two schools are still developping 2 opposite thesis : 1) H.A.L = IBM (the company who largely contributed to the film), considering the previous letter in the alphabet for each letter in " IBM " . So it gives " I " -1 = H, " B " -1 = A, and " M " -1 = L. Theory which the director, Arthur C. e, never agreed with. 2) H.A.L =*H*euristic *AL*gorithmic computer, confirmed by Arthur C. e. Nevertheless, it is the first theory which became the reference in the world, mainly because the second one should give " HAC " , not " HAL " . If the name of the computer was to be read HAC, please note that it sounds as " to hack " (s'introduire dans) ( to enter in force), which gives in turn " hacker " = pirate informatique( a self-pirate in this case), exactly what is " HAL " . Have a nice Sunday.
