Guest guest
Welcome back, Nurse MacArthur! So great to see you post. I've missed and wondered about you, Louise. I'm very sorry about the bad times you've gone through recently. I hope they are well behind you. It's fantastic news that you now have a good pain management specialist by your side. You know I agree with you on the pain issue - with a slight twist. I think that pain and its management IS a moral issue. When physicians ignore pain or refuse to inquire about it and treat it effectively, and when they and other people make the person in pain feel bad about needing constant medication, including opioids where appropriate, to relieve their suffering, or, worse yet, keep them from it, that is immoral. In this realm of rheumatic disease, it's hard to think of anything more wrong - condemning a person to a life filled with pain when there are safe, effective medications and treatment strategies available. I do believe the tide is turning, but not quickly enough to suit me. Yes, I've had enough of the cold! The snow is beautiful though. I'll tell you where to go! Guest guest
Dear Louise: It is so nice to see you posting again. I always enjoy reading your emails. I don't think you know me. My name is Colletti and I am also a member of RA-Support. My email is Anjillah@.... I am also an RN but haven't worked in 7 years. I sure do miss it, but that's another long story. I have RA, spinal stenosis, DDD, osteoporosis, asthma, atelectasis, osteoarthritis, and a kidney transplant for the past 18 years. I was also on dialysis for 18 years before I had the transplant. Yes, I worked as a Nurse while on dialysis and while I had the transplant. However, with the RA and my bad back and my problem breathing I can no longer work. I wish I could return to work but they can't seem to do anything to help my breathing problem. As far as the pain, I am using duragesic patches. They are wonderful. They don't make you sleepy or drugged and they really help the pain. Well, I just thought I would tell you about them, in case you were interested. I would love to hear from you is you get a chance. Sincerely, Colletti Anjillah@...
