Hello Sharon,

I have been on disability about 3 years. It took 2 years to be approved. My

case was backdated for two years, so I qualified for Medicare immediately. I

received a considerable chunk of " back " pay. (literally, back pay lol).

I have not been diagnosed with fibromyalgia. I do have osteoarthritis. I have

symptoms of RA, but the tests do not support that diagnosis. I have the feeling

of ground glass in my joints. Sometimes nearly all of them. The pain jumps

from joint to joint intermittantly. Very strange.

I have tried relaxation, holistic medicine and accupuncture. I take Darvocet N

100 as needed for pain. It does not work on the back pain but provides some

relief for joint pain or headache.

I do not want anyone to think I do not take pain relievers because I have any

kind of prejudice against them, or those who take them.

Simply, I am afraid of addiction or unusual side effects. I often react

oppositely to a drug. I am a recovering alcoholic. I've been sober for 25

years.

I dabbled with pot, amphetamines and psycodelics (sp?) in my misspent youth back

in the sixties. I worry about breaking sobriety. Does anyone else share a

similar condition who would like to share about it?

Hi to all of you,

Thank you for your warm welcome. I appreciate your caring responses including

the offers to talk offline. I hope to learn new ways to cope.
