Guest guest
Hello everyone, Haven't kept in touch, but have been reading the posts. Thought I'd say hi and let you know I've been thinking of you. The Dercum Kid is alive and kicing, albeit gently and slowly. My last surgery, at the hands of a gentle and skillful dermatologist went well and has healed quickly with no horrible aftereffects. I'm scheduled to attend a conference of Ohio dermatologists March 3 and meet some doctors at Cincinnati Hospital to see who is willing to learn more about this bizarre disease. Some European doctors have had encouraging results with growth hormone injections in a few people, and one woman who had a total body lipectomy has been tumor-free for nearly 5 months now, though she still has the other side-effects of Dercum's. So there is hope on the horizon! I've had to discontinue using the Duragesic patch-- my darn body which seems to be allergic to so many things reacted badly to the adhesive and to the gel itself, not to mention the fact that I wasn't getting very much pain relief any more. Ah well, back to the drawing board. Dr. Khan says he'll think of something, he is a very sweet compassionate man. I tell him he is the Arab version of the Pillsbury Doughboy and he tells me I've got him hooked on Buckeyes (the candy) now. Ron got his Abbott newsletter the other day, and apparently they have a new version of Humira in the works with expanded applications for use in PsA. A belated happy Valentine's Day to all, Peace, Judi
