Guest guest
I had already given that physician (the one who prescribed the haldol) a medical journal article, where I highlighted the sections about 54% of LBD people dying within 17 weeks of receiving neuroleptics. We also had a conversation in which he told me he was familiar with the research on neuroleptics and LBD. He knew the terrible risk and he decided to give it anyhow. Just think of what the justice system would do if a citizen were to knowingly administer a substance to someone else (e.g. a recreational drug) that had a 50% chance of killing the other person. Have you given them any info from the LBD Association regarding the use of neuroleptics? Would it be helpful to have a neurologist speak to the Doc? Docs in nursing homes, etc., are very difficult in terms of changing the prescibing habits. > > If all fails, could you bring in a private consultant for help. And the one that always gets a Doc's attention is to mention that you may have to file a formal complaint with an agency such as the County Medical Society, Medical Board, etc. > > MD > > father given HALDOL 3 weeks after catastrophic reaction to risperidone > > Went in to see my father tonight, and he was in terrible condition. > Dopy, didn't know me, spasms and big tremors, trying to talk but unable > to form the words. > > I asked to see the record of his medications and found out that after > my father hit a nurse yesterday, the doctor on call ordered Haldol PRN, > and they gave him a dose of it. 3 weeks ago he had a catastrophic > response to Respiridone.
