A JOB!!!!

To those of you who know what I have gone through at work with this procedure. . .I finally have excellent news. I will be moving on. . .hurrah!!!!!

My manager is a wee bit depressed about it all. . .and, as it turns out, saddened by what happened with my co-worker and the human resources manager (who chose to pursue " sensitivity training " as an answer to the problem and as a way to alleviate the company's liability in the matter). Nonetheless, he knew how sad and disgusting the matter was to me and how intolerable it would be for me to continue working in this environment. He gave me glowing references and wished me the best of luck.

I initially received 2 " pending " job offers at the very same time (pending the reference and police checks, that is) and have been mulling them both over this week while the companies do their background checks. On Friday afternoon I received notice that both offers were firm and offer letters were waiting for me to pick them up! Hurrah hurrah!!!

One offer was for a tremendous amount of money. . .but a daily drive to L.A. The other was for just a little more than what I make now but is 5 minutes from home. Both are for software development firms. No more FDA!!! (This is a HUGE plus!) After thinking it over this weekend, I've decided to take the job that is close to home.

My recovery from UAE has depended a great deal on the support that I've received from my family and I believe that I need to spend MORE time with my children, at this point, instead of less. (Nonetheless, my 12-year-old son was extremely disappointed--the money offered from the L.A. job was putting dollar signs in his greedy little pre-teen, " I've got to have it all--just drop me at the mall " , heart!)

My back has been killing me (again) all weekend--requiring narcotics to diminish the severity :( and yet, my spirits have been soaring. Yes, even with the pain still present things are definitely changing for the better. . .

Hi, Carla. Congratulations on your new job!!!!!! Money, as you know, is not everything. I think it is good that you will be closer to home and able to spend more time with your children. Sounds like things are looking up!!! Sorry to hear about your back pain. Do you think it is from degenerating fibroids???? I still have intermittent pain and many times it is quite fleeting. Just when I know it's there, it's gone. However, I must say that the chronic pain (knock on wood) is gone. And, yes, the pain varies day by day. I think it is good to focus on the positive as you are doing, Carla. Hope more good things come your way. When do you start your new job? What type of software will you be developing? I know this is not truly " UAE " related, but I find it quite interesting.
