Dear Friends,

Just dropping in to wish you all the happiest and healthiest of New Years

possible for all of us!

When I am quiet, you can be sure that something is not right in my little

world. My " bad "

knee (it was fused in 10/03) began to swell and become extremely painful. I

spent most of the holidays in my bed here. The girls said it still better

than last Christmas (I was n a coma in the ICU and had just coded), but things

are still not back to normal. I still have the " cage " on my right knee and from

the pin sites I am oozing some type of yellow discharge. It looks like it is

infected, but the discharge has no odor! The ortho has a bone growth

stimulator on the site, but I have been having horrible pain and the joint area

still

seems to be moving. It moved for a week or two immediately post op and then

I thought it was fused. Well, things are still " moving " in my knee and the

pain has gotten increasingly worse. The ortho wants a CT of my knee and I have

been fighting with my PCP since Monday to try and get it. I am almost at the

point where I will pay for it out of pocket. Something significant must have

happened in my knee to be in this much pain this far post op. I run NO

temperature. Last night I did not get to sleep until 5:00 am and with a lot of

pain

medication. I have told Ron not to go to work tomorrow morning as we are

going to sit in the ortho's office until someone sees us and gives us some

straight answers. When I was at the ortho the last time and he saw the

drainage, he

said it was " fat " coming out! At this rate, my thigh should be as thin as my

wrist by Valentine's Day.

I will try and drop a line after me seeing my ortho or one of his associates.

Again, Happy and Healthy New Year to all of my dearest friends in the world.

Gentle, tender, angel hugs,

Debs in FL
