Hi Carol- I've had a sister and many patients on Remeron. The only common side effect people have talked about is it helps them sleep. I sure hope it helps you. I've been on several antidepressants. Sometimes it takes a while to get the right one that works for you, sometimes the right one stops working and you have to find a new right one! I've experienced both, and it's so awful and frustrating. I know how hard it can be. But when you get the right one, little by little you get some spring back in your step and become happy to wake up again. Very much worth it. So please try not to be too afraid of the meds-depression is just as crippling as RA. Good luck with the Remeron. Cary

Guest guest
Hi June, I don't know why I'm so spooked by the antidepressants, but Iris and my mom both wrote / told to me that I should just take my Dr.'s advice - that's what I'm paying him for. So that's what I'm doing. It feels good to talk to friends about it, and I feel better than I have in quite a while just because I'm confronting it. I kept thinking, " This will go away soon. I'll just tough it out. " No more! It certainly is good to be back among friends that can understand and show empathy! Big hugs to you! Carol [ ] Went to the doctor... Welcome back Carol. I am so happy that your ebay venture is a success. Depression is a frequent visitor to those of us who live with chronic pain. There are many new meds out there that can help and don't hesitate to take them Carol. I didn't even realize I was depressed until my rheumy mentioned it, I went on med and had to admit it helped my mood swings a lot. I know what it is like to stay away as well. I had a bad experience with ankle surgery and instead of letting all of you help me, I stayed away for several months. It is good to be back among people that can understand and show empathy. Guest guest
Hi Cary, Thanks so much for the reassuring words. I know I need to " bite the bullet " , but my husband is VERY negative toward antidepressants and he's coloring my opinion. Also, I've read about withdrawal from some of these meds and that scares me a lot. At this point, though, I'm past caring. It has helped so much to " shine the light under the rock " so to speak, and tell friends and my doctor about what I've been going through. Never having experienced depression like this (although I've probably been dysthymic for years - can't remember last time I've been truly happy), I'm shocked at how crippling depression can be! I'm getting ready to take the Remeron right now before I go to bed, and I'm very grateful that it will help with sleep. Thanks again, and I hope you had a nice birthday! Hugs, Carol Re: [ ] Went to the doctor... In a message dated 18/02/2004 17:27:07 Central Standard Time, carol@... writes: > Has anyone taken Remeron?
