Things were fairly normal til about 5pm, when 9-1-1 rang. I pick up, to the sound of a kid screaming for help over and over...I manage to hear something like, " My mom is beating me..she's hurting me...oh please help " . I immediately checked my ALI screen...and the horror of it all is...that is the call I got the ANI failure Freida, Calls with children are the worst for any emergency worker. The sad news about your grandson makes that even more difficult to cope with. However, you coped! You followed your training procedures and dealt with the call effectively. I hope that you have been able to discuss this incident in greater detail with some of your co-workers or with CIS (as mentioned by another posted comment). This forum seems like a great place to relate to others who can relate (and do!). New group member, " older " dispatcher (EMD).
