Guest guest
I had to wait over 2 years to begin treatment becuz of no insurance and no way to afford the labs for MTX (is that the abbreviation?) My psoriatic arthritis was extremely aggressive- and after being sole support for disabled husbnad, (PTSD, AGent Orange cancers and catatonia) and 3 kids, 2 of whom are disabled (one is profoundly wildly bipolar, the other has seizure related issues, brain heterotopia and wears leg braces and is also bp) - life was just nuts- - I was working as a nurses aide and going to nursing school- I think the nursing school vaccinations triggered the onset of my illness- wow- was that a slam to go from do it all supermom to wham flat out on my back screaming involuntarily- the changes in our life. YIkes. SO- we finally got ChampVA coverage and I finally got my MTX started---and I am already getting excited, even tho it has only been 2 weeks. Maybe I am having a placebo effect right now- but already I feel so much better. Is this really possible? Might I really be able to go back to work again? Will I be able to take a bath even if I am alone? Might I be able to fasten blue jeans again? and cook? My fingers, wrists thumbs and toes have been so swollen and usually black for the better of 3 years now. Dare I get excited? Yesterday I ran (sort of) up our 3 porch steps- I was ecstatic! Can this be real? - In , kringlemom@a... wrote: > i take mtx injections too, just over a year. i was nauseous and had tummy > troubles for the first 6 weeks. then they pretty much went away. i am a little > tired on the weekends and try to relax ( i do my injections friday night) i was > in so much pain and pretty much stuck in my home i was so ill and now i have > worked part time (first time in over 2 years) 20 hrs a week almost a year now! > i am able to clean my home, shop. walk the dog 2x a day. have a lttle social > life ( i even hosted a lingerie party last saturday) it was rough at first. i > am so glad i stuck it out. it has really changed my life. i still have troubles > now and again, but life is definatly better, thanks to methotrexate. good > luck to you. kathy in il > > >
