Guest guest
On monday I posted concerning an injured fire fighter from one of our volunteer fire dpts. This is the most current update Pat McAvoy, 27 yoa is still in the trauma unit at Vanderbilt Hospital in Nashville. Pat suffered head trauma and some brain swelling which has since subsided. There was a fear that he would lose his sight due to exposure to diesel fuel, but that seems to be ok. Surgery was done yesterday with plates being placed in his forehead, one cheek and his chin. There were some broken ribs and a broken leg. His left ear was torn off also. Prognosis seems to be for a full recovery. It is believed that the light bar on the truck kept his head from being crushed. The accident occurred while enrte to a working structure fire. There is no definite answer yet as to what caused the crash. Possibilities incluse the water shifted in the tank, another thought is that a rear leaf spring broke , and then there is driver error that he was driving to fast for conditions and didn't negotiate the curve completely. Continue to pray for Pat and the Walter Hill VFD, this is the second apparatus they have lost recently, one is out due to mechanical problems. As a volunteer agency it is not easy to replace the appartatus. Sgt Currey Rutherford County SO Murfreesboro, geographic center,Tn
