Guest guest
Althea: Thanks so much for your kind words. I am sorry to hear your description of your mom. Has she always been like this, or gotten there as she aged? Sometimes as our parents age they become self centered, and don't realize they are being that way. I have noticed this with my mother-in-law, she is a beautiful person, but since my FIL died and she is all by herself she has changed...I think she spends to much time alone, and has to much time to think....it must be very hard to do things for a person that is yelling at you, I think you must be a very kind person to try and help her when she is yelling at you....I would probably walk out the door with a comment of...when you are through yelling give me a call......anyway....sorry it took so long to respond, but it has been really stormy down here in the SW part of the state...hugs Kathi in OK --- In , " blueroses11 " <bluerose11@e...> wrote: > I am so happy for you. Guest guest
I hope you have good luck with the docs that accept Tricare...it seems like the better ones don't. Dr. Carson did, but because they pay so badly he stopped. I did'nt want to give him up so, tricare paid some but it was'nt just a copay....I was lucky as far as my SSDI took so long that when it was finally approved I had no waiting period for medicare. And now I can go to any doc I want as long as they accept tricare and medicare and don't have to go through the refferal mess with tricare....and don't have to apy a copay anymore as whatever medicare doest'nt pay is picked up by tricare,,,I hope it all works out and you get a good rheumy....and also get your SSDI...also have you applied for VA disability? You don't have to answer if I am being nosey I was just wondering?......Kathi in OK

If I had been retired at that time, his nurse told me I would have still been accepted. I might give his office a call and see if they are still taking retired Tricare Prime. Yes, I am on VA disability. I get that instead of a retirement check. You have a choice - get your retirement and have it taxed to death or take the same amount and not be taxed. I opted to recieve mine not taxed from the VA. It makes me mad though that other government workers retire and get their retirement and disability. They did pass a bill in congress to give all 20+ year retirement vets their retirement and VA disability if you were over 60% disabled...which I am BUT there isn't enough money in the defense bill to give it to us... Congress gets a raise and those who serve their country in the military get s******... I'm sorry and I will get off my soap box but most people don't realise how they have gotten us over the years...reducing retirement...reducing medical insurance and now reducing the prescriptions we can get. Oh well, I will close. God bless, Althea PS I could go on forever on this topic.
Guest guest
Althea: My husband is a 100% disabled vet...Viet Nam era...so you are preaching to the choir...LOL...he just this month started to recieve half of his retirement.....that's why I asked you about the VA....do you ever use the VA hospital in OKC? Dr. Carson does accept prime just you pay more because he is not a tricare doc...that is what I did before I recieved medicare...you have to cover more than the copay though, I believe I had to cover the first 300 and then pay half the office visit,,,tricare can explain it to you....I also would check with VA if they refer you out they may pick up the cost.....have you considered reopening your VA case....I know it is a long process it took my husband over 9 years to finally get at 100%, but his was an active duty induced injury....he was blown out of a humvee and had 3 major back surguries while on active duty, then after he retired they acted like it was no big deal, it is really sad how they treat the vets. I could tell some real horror stories, but the one the really gets me is it is your responsibility to prove you were stationed in the agent orange areas, or there is no desert storm disease....OK like you it is time to get off the box....I really hope you find a good doc that is willing to help you, and get you feeling a little better.....Kathi in OK --- In , " blueroses11 " <bluerose11@e...> wrote: > --- In , " Kathi " <iamladybird@y...> wrote: > > I hope you have good luck with the docs that accept Tricare...it > > seems like the better ones don't. Kathi, I don't go to the VA hospital but am registered there. It is just too far to travel. We have the Vance AFB cllinic here. They just wrote in the paper yesterday that we are going to get a VA clinic here which will be great. The VA would reimburse me for all my driving expenses to OKC which Prime does not - I go 92 miles to my docs 1 way and I have to go 100...If I had know that in the beginning I would have gone to her midwest city office - that is just over 100 by my driving but again by there's probably would be 99... I am glad your husband is 100% now. I am fighting each step. I have had to go to so many docs for examinations for the VA. I refused last time to have the gyn exam...the doc understood...I wasn't there for that but there to be examined for RA... They take pictures of every part of your body - told them they didn't need to do that either as the pictures of my scars from my surgeries were already on file. I wrote a complaint to the VA...my paperwork said evaluation for RA not take pictures of scars - not do gyn exam. The doc said it was on his paperwork but I didn't do it. I got an apology from the VA - can you believe that but my case is still under review and that was 6 months ago. I get these nice little polite letters in the mail every 30 days that they are still evaluating. I told my husband that by the time they got done evaluating I would be in a wheel chair and then they would be telling me that I could walk still. Oh well as I said the box is high and I am standing on it. I am going to go find a representative though. I was told I should have one to assist me with my claim. I am going to find a new lawyer for my SSDI too. The one I have doesn't seem to be doing anything. Last time I called they said I would be having a hearing - that was 3 months ago. I think I need to rattle a few cages. Now that the warm weather is here and I am actually feeling a little spunky they better watch out. I may not be able to walk a mile but I'll get the job done somehow. God bless, Althea

Althea: I know this is something you probably don't want to hear, but the wait for an ADJ Judge in Oklahoma averages about 14 months. Sometimes sooner but I would'nt count on it. Your lawyer can't make it go any faster, I know it is a pain, but unfortunately it is the norm. Try not to get to disgusted, that is what they are hoping you will do......Kathi in OK
