Guest guest
Hi Barbara I have several ways that I deal with pain. First there are drugs. I take Vicodin and Neurontin for the neuropathy pain in my feet and ankles. Second- I seek out things to laugh at. Laughter is the best medicine! Don't take anything too serious. Of course we have these diseases and the pain and more than likely it will never go away....so we need to learn to put it in its' place. Third-I allow myself a pity party no oftener than once a month and no longer than about ten minutes...cry, holler, whatever and then put it away. And lastly, if all else fails, I bite my tongue. LOL! It's not easy living with pain, but for our own sanity we have to divert our attention. I'm sure you are going to get a lot of replies, so sit back and take notes and see what is best for you to work with. Guest guest
Hi Barbara, Vioxx clearly isn't for everyone, but it does work differently than aspirin. It works very well for me, in addition to my other meds. I use OxyContin, OxyIR, Vioxx, Prevacid, Paxil and have an implanted spinal column stimulator to help with leg pain. Along with that, I garden and do woodworking, as I feel able to. Those hobbies help me concentrate on something that I enjoy doing and help me, I feel, through relaxation and focusing. http://home.dejazzd.com/hower
Guest guest
Thank you --the vioxx does not help me at all--I am on these med's--vioxx--hydocodrone--amitiripaline--Zoloft--Prevacid--and at this time can not remember the other's and I am to tired to go look--I have a hobby doing graphics--it keeps my mind off of the pain most of the time--the past 3 weeks have been very painful--The Doctors in y area--you have to become a nasty person to get anything stronger then the vioxx--also I have noticed that the small of my back--the pain radiates from there on down to my hip's--and my feet tingle a lot-- the right side is the worst---Does this happen to you-- Re: pain and medication > > Hi Barbara, > > Vioxx clearly isn't for everyone, but it does work differently than > aspirin. Guest guest
Hi Peggy==I agree laughter is the best medicine--I have a 3 yr old grand-daughter and she helps me forget about my pain--but at times--It really bothers me because I can't pick her up--she knows this--and she will tell me to sit down and hold her--No it is not easy living with pain--and every year it hurts more--The doctors put me on ssi--and I have been on it since 1999---September of 98--I was told I could not work anymore--I am 50 now-- Re: pain and medication > > Hi Barbara > I have several ways that I deal with pain. Nerve involvement -- pinching, inflammation, etc. -- at L5 and S1 can cause tingling and numbness in the feet. I have pinched nerves at several levels, inflammation in the nerve root at several, scarring from previous surgery, so I have to watch my step, literally. Several years ago the therapist had me start wearing a foot-drop brace on my left foot. I can't flex or rotate the ankle or move the toes, so I was dragging that foot and tripping over my own toes. http://home.dejazzd.com/hower
Guest guest
hi, I know how others are feeling when it comes to pain meds. I think its not only pain meds that docs get controlling on but other meds too. Like a PRN med that you need to take daily and run out. They act so bad when you call to get more. You get the " you took all of that " . Not to mention many insurance companies limit how much you can get of a med iirrigardless of what the doc writes. I take prevacid 30mg 2 pills a day. Insurance will only allow for 30 day supply so I end up suffering for 15 days or undermedicated for 30 days. The reason for this is, this is the stipulation on the contract made by your employer due to drug costs of certain drugs. I know that no healthcare system is perfect but socialized medicine is really beginning to look better and better. At least we could get our needs met.
