Hi...well, the process for wls begins " for real " next Tuesday. I have a

lengthy appt. with the Bariatric Nurse Practitioner to start the ball

rolling. I am feeling both afraid they won't approve me, and afraid

they will! : ) Please keep me in your prayers.

I have a brief case bulging full of 11 different doctor's records for

the past 2 years, as they requested. I have a bit more organizing to do

today.

I've been learning so much about weight loss surgery, the good, and the

cautionary points. Low calcium levels are pretty common after wls, so

one must be dilgent with calcium suplementation and calcium rich foods.

I've got to look at food as medicine, not just taste. I need to make

sure the majority of what I eat is nutrient dense.

My bone density is very good at this point, and I want to keep it there.

I am curious to see if a substantial weight loss has any beneficial

aspects regarding the RA, PsA, and FMS. I'm sure it will with the OA.

Loving you all....

Tess

Tess- I know you are really researching this and everything...but we run

into something a lot where I work, where they have a whole unit that is just

post-op bariatric surgery patients. Please be sure you fully understand the

dietary restrictions after the surgery-amount and types of food. That is

something

everyone is told, even in writing! but after surgery they tend to say they

didn't know or no one told them about the severe dietary restrictions. I hope

you don't take offense, but there is so much to know I just wanted to be sure

you were aware of that piece. Good luck, Tess...I wish you only the best!
