Guest guest
Thats good advice Steve. I wish more doctors did tests like that. So many seem to presume that everyone " should " fit into some predetermined idea or pigeonhole. Btw, I metabolize some drugs faster than others too; so, oxycontin didn't last the full 12 hours, but rather about 8 hours, with a longer tail end. Still,it was better than some meds which last only 2-3 hours. One pain mgt MD I had gave me *3* oxycontin a day and several shorter lasting hydrocdone for brreakthrough pain. That was unusual though. But, where I am now,my pain mgt doctor will only prescribe MS Contin 2x a day, with 3 short term meds for breakthrough pain, no exceptions. I really wish thing were different re: attitudes and laws with pain meds, but, they're not. K. Re: Re: my pain manger discharged me It sounds like you are a rapid metaboliser of oxycodone and klonipin, which is why your oxycodone levels are lower than anticipated (not that there is anyway to determine how much oxycodone someone has taken based on their blood levels) and the fact that you only get two hours of relief. I must warn you that you may not get great results with OxyContin because you will likely rapidly metabolise the oxycodone in that as well. I can't recommend a test, but I can tell you that my doctor ran a CYP450 genetic test that tells the doctor which metabolic channels rapidly metabolise the drugs and they can use that to pick a drug that will work better. Steve M in PA i was so surprised when i got a phone call form the dcotor himself telling me he is dismoissing me and would no longer treat me cause me klonipin levels didn't show up for two months in a row then he said my roxy levels were low that i might be selling my pills or taking to many
