Hi there.

My daughter just got her band two weeks ago from CT. There is a

place in Austin, where I live, that makes their own orthopedic

devices according to doctors recommendations, but during the inquiry

of them...they had only done 4 bands. I talked to the man who

actually makes the devices for this one neurologist and he sounded

pretty unsure about the actual benefits. Being a time dependant

thing, I didn't want to risk it with someone who may be using my

child to get more experience.

If this place has only been doing it for eight months...how many

bands have they actually done? What were the results etc.... I'd be

asking lots and lots of questions. Good luck and hope thing work out!

,

I live in Eau Wi and my son has a doc band, we are getting

treatment in Madison Wi.

Please see message #4502 that talks about the craniocap at Gillette.

From my understanding the doctor who has created the device was

affiliated with a CT site. The clinic in Madison had very nice

things

to say about Dr Wood, but of course they could not endorse his device

as they have no experience with it.

Where in MN do you live?

Hi ,

Thanks for the info. We live in Minnetonka and debated traveling to Madison

for the DOC band. After talking to Dr. Wood, we felt that we should have it

done here. We will see!!! I still have not met anyone who have actually

used the craniocap. Thanks and I hope all is going well for you in Madison.

How often will you need to go in for adjustments and did Dr Wood give

you an estimate for the amount of time?

Does the craniocap help with facial assy and with ear alignment?

After 6 weekly trips to Madison, we are now on a biweekly schedule.

The 6 hour round trip drive was beginning to take its toll, it was

great having last week off. It is wonderful that you can get

treatment locally.

Sorry to hear that you have to travel so far, we will do anything

for our children, won't we? You're a terrific mom for doing what

you're doing. Get plenty of rest for yourself, it sounds that things

may settle now that you have biweekly appt.'s. Good Luck to you.

Sherri,

Thank you for the kind words. And yes, we would do anything for our

son. I am so glad that the band is working and that non-evasive

treatment is available.

It feels great to be moving forward.

I was told that if the head had a nice round shape and facial bones are

connected, they will follow. Makes sense to me? Anyway one get explained

that too? My son got his DOC Band at 6 months and we also go to Madison. He

has had his band 2 1/2 weeks and have seen nice changes in his head. They

seemed to think it would help some with the facial asymmetry but not to

expect 100%.

Hi ,

We will go in for adjustments every other week and expect that will

have to wear the band 8 months. In terms of helping with facial assy. and

ear alignment, I don't think so especially at 's age ( 10 1/2 mos.)

Does the DOC band help with those areas?

Boy, I bet you are a bit pooped with all the driving. We chose to go

through Dr. Wood rather than drive the 10 hr round trip. We heard that Dr.

Wood was pretty good but that the orthotists have not had as much

experience. So many decisions! I hope we are doing the right thing!

Thanks,
