Guest guest
Well, dear friends, as some of you know, I have been incarcerated since 2/24/04 for knee pain and possible infection of the stability pins in my right knee. The ortho ordered several nuclear scans and the news came out today that I have developed a case of osteomyelitis. Surgery has been scheduled for 11:30 am on Thursday to remove the pins and see how much he has to clean up. He plans for me to be here until Saturday and then discharge me home with IV antibiotics and home nursing care. Today was also the first day that he has EVER possibly mentioned amputation. My knee is quite red and swollen and the actual infection activity was confirmed via the nuclear scan. My diabetes has also gone out of control, probably due to the stress of my situation. Sugars have been running consistently over 300. I will try to have Vickie post a quick note once I am out of recovery. I am in the same hospital that I was during that 4 month stay before I went into cardiac arrest, in fact I am in the same ROOM as I was that they rushed me out of on my way to SICU. Ron and Vickie kept saying don't you remember this about the room or that and the more that they asked my questions about it, the more I cried because those months are gone from my memory. But I have stayed in this room and fought the daemons. The direct number to this room is 954-545-5498. Today, was the first day that I really saw a concerned look on my surgeon's face. One of the other doctors told me he did not sleep all night last night as they called him with the positive results. Well, I should get some rest before my big date. Hopefully, it will be ME that posts the update to the group. Remember, that I love you all and know that your prayers are going with me tomorrow into surgery. Gentle, tender, angel hugs, Debs in FL
