Guest guest
Dear Carol: Hi Carol this is Colletti. You know I don't post too often but I try to read as much of the email that I can. Your letter struck home with me. I do know a bit about depression. I have had enough of it over the years. My illnesses came first and then the depression came. I have had so much sickness since I was on dialysis for 18 years and now have a kidney transplant for 18 years. I also have trouble walking and have a breathing disorder which causes me to use a scooter. So, I put myself in therapy a long while ago. The therapy has helped me very much and it kinda keeps me together. Also, I have been on a few meds. However, I find that Zoloft is the best for me. Don't be afraid to take an antidepressant. They don't all make you fat. Also, it is not something that magically happens. You have to do the eating to get fat. You just have to know your limits and when to say no to fattening foods. Also, I have been a Psychiatric Nurse for 20 years. From the symptoms you have described you need an antidepressant or at least make an appointment with a Psychiatrist. Let him/her decide what you need, not your Rheumy or Medical Dr. They don't know what is best for you. They haven't had the training a Psychiatrist has had in diagnosing these problems. Don't cheat yourself. Go to a Doctor who knows what you should have for your depression. Also, just a comment of mind is that trazodone is not going to help you at such a small dose that you take. I was on it but on a higher dose. It helped me then but it made me too sleepy. They are probably giving it to you at night to help you to sleep and it is not helping much with the depression or you would be better by now. Well, that's all from me for now. I hope I have helped a little bit. Please make an appointment with a Psychiatrist and don't think it is a bad thing to do. The movie stars all go to them. They know what is best for their selves. That's the only way they can deal with their problems and it does help them. Take care. Sincerely, Anjillah@...
