Guest guest
You must have a Medscape account (it's free) in order for this link to work for you. http://www.medscape.com/Medscape/WomensHealth/journal/2000/v05.n01/wh3284.mogh/w\ h3284.mogh-01.html A Clinician's Guide to the Use of Gonadotropin-Releasing Hormone Analogues in Women Kamran S. Moghissi, MD I did note when checking the bibliography for this paper that 3 of the sources were written by ex-Dr. Friedman. The physician who lost his license and was fined $10,000 for doctoring the clinical trials of Lupron. One of those citations is next to the statement that side effects of Lupron are minimal. Apparently the author neglected to check the FDA complaint files for verification of this. (My impression is the author chose to disregard the FDA approved uses of this drug as well.) The two other citations are in the section on uterine fibroids. In fact, the section on Leiomyomas contains a total of only 4 citations -- 2 of which are from Friedman. Clearly, this article was not peer reviewed by anyone really paying attention to the details. Citing sources with little to no credibility is generally not a good sign. Guest guest
I have no medical background but I can tell you what Lupron was like for me: muscle, joint and bone pain (mostly muscle and bone) which at times was so severe, I couldn't go to work and popped heavy pain pills all day. I have also been having difficulty remembering things- mostly what things are called, the correct word for what I'm trying to describe, why I left the milk in the pantry... things like that. There have been other things that were possibly side effects but the major thing for me was the pain. Celebrex helped some but, when it didn't, I had to use narcotic pain killers. Lupron Good question Gwen about the Lupron and Zoladex. I take it to mean that you are asking does Lupron or Zoladex work on someone who has had ufe? I hear these horror stories about lupron, what exactly does it do to you? Does it affect you mentally as far as mood or is it more physical, like naseaus (sp?), weight gain/weight loss, aches and pains etc. So I guess I'm asking can lupron help a fibroid that has been embolized " shrink/dissolve " faster? And you would not have to worry about them growing back afterwards. Do any of the doctors know the answer to this. ------------------------------------------------------------------------ Free Music: Take it with you!
