Well just as a little note, most agencies will post the beginning salary or

rate of pay on a job posting board. One of our local city police pay their

dispatchers for Dispatcher I - $8.62 per hour, Dispatcher 2 - $11.60 per

hour. However the sheriffs dept starts at $11.25 per hour for Dispatcher I

with raises every quarter. So there you go I hope that helps.

At my agency here in Orange County, California, we are making anywhere from

$17/hour to topping out at $24/hour as police dispatcher.. Lead Dispatchers

are making about $24/hour to $30/hour.. We get merit increases with our

yearly reviews.. The increase can be either 3%, 4%, or 6% depending on your

review..

Hope that helps..

Here in Lexington, KY, we are starting police call takers at $12.92 per hour.

At police, they have two classifications, call takers and dispatchers. I

believe that dispatchers start at 6% more.

I am at the fire department where we use only dispatchers (because that

position requires a minimum of 2 years of experience). We also will start

our dispatchers at the current rate of pay for their years of experience from

another agency.

And how much is a 2 bedroom apartment, a loaf of bread, a gallon of milk and
