Several years ago I had one, and it was no big deal. I don't recall any pain

connected with it at all. I believe they used water soluble dye, but it was ~15

years ago, so I don't remember for sure.

If the tubes are actually blocked, it might be more painful. I have also had

venograms (roughtly the same procedure to check for blocked veins). That pain

was excruciating - and more so, when the vein was 100% blocked than when it was

less blocked.
