Guest guest
Hi Joyce, Sometimes it is overwhelming when you are considering alternatives for a medical condition. You said about your gynecologist: " I am not sure how pleased she is with me right now " . If I may ask: How long did you know you had fibroids? Did your Doctor recommend " watchful waiting " of the uterine fibroids, saying, " they would go away with menopause? " When she discussed your now symptomatic uterine fibroids, did she present to you a full range of options for treatment, ranging from the most minimally invasive, to hysterectomy, which should be the last resort? Presenting a range of alternatives for a medical condition falls under " Informed Medical Consent " . Would she be the gynecologic surgeon to perform your hysterectomy? Did she discuss major complications of hysterectomy such as post-op complications, surgical menopause and long-term HRT, loss of/or significantly reduced orgasmic capability? Would she be able to perform a supra-cervical hysterectomy enabling you to retain the nerve endings for continued orgasmic capability? As a medical health care consumer, Joyce, you are doing the right thing. You are closely examining your medical condition, the range of alternatives available to you, and what will most fit your needs. I wouldn't be too concerned about " how pleased she is with you, right now " , it's your body, you have to live with the aftermath, not her. Best wishes, Marsha (silvrfaux@...) 1 year post-UAE for large intramural uterine fibroids, full uterine function, age 48.
Guest guest
I have just joined this group and would appreciate any information regarding alternative medicine to help in shrinking fibroids. I have had fibroids for many years, but recently they have grown so that my uterus is the 14 week size. My obgyn said surgery, but since I am 49 would like to avoid this if possible. (I am also not sure just how 'pleased' she is with me right now.) I have very few symptoms-just have to get up once or twice during the night to urine and more frequently during the day. I have read many, maybe too many, articles about fibroids and alternative treatments and am interested in something that might help. Thanks Joyce __________________________________________________
