We are here for you. Becky [ ] Deb's Surgery Update Hello, my dear sweet Friends, I have finally taken a few minutes to let you all know that I am doing OK. They have removed the entire points and now I just have huge holes going thru those bares. I am still off my leg for another 4-6 weeks and will review again after. No one here understands how scared and petrified I am. 5 times for the septic stuff and now osteomyeltis! A BIG thank you from my heart to all of you, I felt each and every one of them while they put me to sleep, I will talk again as soon as the words and typing get caught up together!!!!!!! Gentle, tender, angel hugs, Debs

Debs- I have seen many people have amputations, also. I just want you to know first of all how sorry I am for all of the troubles you are having. Secondly, I'm sure you are soso worried about the amputation possibility, but please know that it isn't the end of your life, just like RA isn't and infections aren't and osteomyelitis isn't. It's another rotten medical thing that happens and you adjust and go to PT and OT and get a prosthesis and learn to use it well and continue on in your life. There was a lady with a prosthetic leg on the cruise I just went on, she went on all the outings and was silly and bossy with her friends and seemed happy and fine. So while I hope you do not need an amputation or even any more surgery, I was hoping you could keep things in perspective as much as possible. I'm thinking of you, Debs. Guest guest
Debs... Whatever they take from you in an amputation is not the " you " that everyone knows and loves especially your kids and your husband. Your dear husband did not marry you on condition you keep all your body parts. I would like to tell you a story.... When I first went to work for the phone company back in 1962, there was a vibrant young woman a few years older than I was with two kids. She was separated from her husband who had tried to kill her and her kids and he was in jail serving a sentence. The day he was released (she was not notified), she and a girlfriend from the phone company were heading home after work. She had just came down the on ramp to the freeway and as chance would have it, I was just going out the off ramp just across from her entrance. Did not know it was her. There was an explosion and the car flew from the top of the on ramp down onto the freeway. Somehow, she and her friend survived but she sustained the most damage as she lost both legs. She was gone from the phone company for sometime as she had been put into hiding until they caught her husband and put him away for life. The next I saw her many months later was at a telephone party. I was surprised to see her dancing out in the middle of the floor....sometimes with her prosthetic legs and sometimes in her wheelchair. When we were able to sit down and talk, I asked her how she had survived mentally with all that had happened to her. She leaned across the table and showed me pictures of her two boys and said... " This is my reason for living! " She did not stay at the telephone company long after that and the last I heard years ago was that she had gone into business for herself designing and putting together formal gowns and wedding dresses. I have always held much admiration for her all these years. I hope you will find the strength to go on....it will be rough....but through our Heavenly Father and the loving family you have....even your extended family....all behind you with love and support, it will help to make it a little easier. I have kept you in my prayers for a long time and will continue to ask for guidance, help, and health for you. You are loved!
