Guest guest
Hello ... Maybe my situation will be of benefit for you to hear. My son was diagnosed w/severe Plagio and tort but did not receive his band until his 1st birthday. (I delayed therapy because I thought I could " fix it myself " with repositioning, neck exercises, etc...but realized at his 9 month visit that the plagio had progressed despite all of my efforts) went through 2 bands and 8 months of banding therapy. He recently graduated this past May. We are so pleased with the results! If you would like to check out the before and after pictures, please click on the files section and open the folder labeled 's Pictures. I think you, too, will be surprised at how much correction the DOC band was able to deliver! Good luck in your decision making process and keep us all posted! Guest guest
> Thanks a lot Polly! > > How has 's Torticolis improved? Did you notice increased improvement > while wearing the band? Hi again, ! Actually, approximately 2-3 months after beginning banding therapy, went to see a physical therapist so that I could be taught the proper neck stretching exercises (I had just been doing simple " turning stretches " ). Up until that point, the torticollis had persisted in severity. After initiating proper, daily p.t., we saw a dramatic improvement. Even though banding therapy is now over, we are continuing the neck exercises (at the direction of the pediatric orthopaedic surgeon following him...whole other story) as the torticollis persists (although now quite mild-you mostly notice it when he's tired) In essence, cranial banding, in and of itself, DOES NOT CORRECT TORTICOLLIS. If the torticollis is not corrected, there is a possible chance that plagio could recur, as torticollis is a causitive and correlating factor in the development of p.p. Does your child have tort in addition to plagio? If so, I believe there is a wonderful tutorial in the files section that will help you in the treatment of it. Good luck ! Guest guest
Hello Polly, Yes, has tort with the plagiocephaly. I'm a PT and have been doing streching for the last 6 months ( 's 10 1/2 months old). We also take him to a PT which has helped quite a bit. The best thing she has done is pad his car seat with foam around the head and pelvis areas to prevent him from getting into his usual position. I would recommend doing this since we all spend so much time in our cars. Thanks for all of your advice. We decided to go ahead with the band. Take care, ----- Original Message ----- From: Polly Janos <pollyjanos@...> <Plagiocephalyegroups> Sent: Friday, June 16, 2000 1:33 PM Subject: Re: Is 10 1/2 months old too old for the band? > > > Thanks a lot Polly! > > > > How has 's Torticolis improved?
