Guest guest
Hi , Sorry to be so long in responding to your post--but I've been soooo tired! LOL! My name is Judi, I don't have RA but do have fibro and Dercum's Disease. Those of us with DD refer to our fatigue bouts as " Dercum time " so I can really sympathize with you. My husband has Parkinson's disease so we take turns being draggy. His (and now my) neurologist made a suggestion when he was first diagnosed about " energy conservation " that really works well. When we know we have a big day coming, spend the day before just resting, watching TV, listening to the stereo, reading, and eating light foods. Go to bed early the night before and rise early that day, and most of the time we have enough energy to get through the busy day, then the next day is a rest day. I've always been a very active person, and before I was diagnosed with Dercum's, some of the doctors I saw just saw an overweight woman and assumed that my problems were caused by indiscretion at the table and lack of exercise and told me to eat less and exercise more. Oh how I wish I could exercise more! But I do take an aquatherapy class twice a week for an hour, and that hour in 96 degree water is wonderful, low-impact exercise that leaves me totally relaxed and no pain afterward. Best of luck to you, and welcome to the most caring supportive group on the internet! Judi
