Guest guest
I sent this earlier today but still don't see it posted on egroups. I won't fill the group in with why I posted this until Sunday just to make sure everyone has a chance to comment on it that wants to. . . Since gyn's currently have no way to make money from the UAE procedure many of them are not supporting UAE as an option. They may have other reasons too but the money issue is a big one. At least one doctor (McLucas) has solved this problem (for him. . .not the patient) by requiring women to undergo both hysteroscopy and laparoscopy. He makes approx. $10k on these two procedures and each one only takes about an hour of his time. Here's my question: How would you feel about your gyn if you knew that he/she was getting a " kickback " from a contractual agreement to refer patients to a specific interventional radiologist for UAE? Do you think the gyn would develop a tendency to refer for UAE more frequently (less work and they still get paid) or do you think it would balance the financial sheet against the other procedures that they DO get paid for and allow them to make an impartial presentation of all choices available to a woman, depending on her medical circumstances? Thoughts, answers, or other potential scenarios of " kickback " arrangements anyone???? carla mailto:cdionne@... p.s. there's a specific reason that I'm asking this question. . .
