Guest guest
I agree patienst have there rights, but i am sorry to say, when it comes to the safety of police, fire, ems, they give up tose rights when they call. Not only for prsonell safety but what if a patient is having a cardiac attack, are we saying the BLS emt's could not request ALS because the person is having chest pains? I think that any info we can relay to the officers should be relayed. I would hate to live w/ the fact that an aids vistim spit in an officers face and gave him aids, because i did not warn him to use safety glasses. If they had a gun and were a danger to responders we would tell them, so if they have aids or something else and present a danger to responders we should tell them that too AIDS is not the only disease with civil rights. the same is true for hepatitus, STD's, etc. right or wrong, people have a right to privacy on medical matters. this is why every police officer, fire fighter or medic should respond to every call using universal precautions. rich, n9dko M.
