Guest guest
, I use my treadmill a lot. We have it downstairs, set up with tv/vcr in front. I choose a comedy show like Friends and it always surprises me how long I can last when my mind is caught up with the humour. It is better to do 10 mins/day then force your body to do a half hour of torture. You will build up your muscles bit by bit and you will know when you ready to walk for a longer period. It doesn't satisfy the need to walk for me but by doing this regimen regularly, who knows, I just may be able to at least walk around the block. Guest guest
June I use the treadmill when my meds are working the best. That is probably why I didn't notice how sore I was getting. I watch TV while using the treadmill, but I have to keep in mind of the time I am on the machine. I have gotten up to 15 minutes, but had to go back down to 5 min this week because of a flair up. My goal for every day is 5 min. and if I am doing well, I stay on the machine longer. I know that if my hip wasn't bad, I could go longer, but that is life. At least I am keeping the hip moving even if it is for a short period of time. The treadmill doesn't ease my need for walking either but can't do much about that since ol " Arther " gets its way all the time. One thing I have realized is that the chart I use is excellent for keeping track of pain. I have an spot on the chart for what part of the bod is hurting that day. I will make copies for my Rheumy.
