Guest guest
Hi - does anyone know how effective blackstrap molasses are as an iron supplement? I'm especially interested in this since it is a 'whole food' that probably has lots of trace elements that allow our body to utilize and absorb nutrients in a more balanced and effective fashion C To: rhythmicliving From: richkare@...Date: Thu, 21 Feb 2008 19:40:08 -0500Subject: Re: Re: Does Armour increase the need for estrogen? My blood work results I have iron levels that are too high. Iron can get into your organs and wreak havoc. Be careful not to raise it too much!KAt 06:45 PM 2/21/2008, you wrote: I have read that there are some that have had really good luck raising their iron using Geritol.GaleKathy <acaciamesquite> wrote: Thanks Sam! I just got my blood work results back from Health Check USA: Ferritin, Serum 33 ng/ml (10-291) Thyroid Peroxidase TPO AB <10 (range 1-34 IU/ML) Antithyroglobulin AB <20 (range 0-40 IU/ML) It looks like my thyroid antibodies are OK but my ferritin is still too low. It came up from 28 the end of May 2007. I have taken so much Iron that it is not funny. I took two 50 mg ferrous succinate capsuls twice a day for months and then switched to two 50 mg tablets once a day. I could not take more than four capsules a day because any more gives me a stomach ache. It is really hard to even get four caps in per day: http://www.vitacost.com/Enzymatic-Therapy-Ultimate-Iron Does anyone have any ideas on what else to do to increase my ferritin? Guest guest
Right . I agree - I have tried the organic blackstrap molasses, which seems to be less 'sugary' and more nutrient rich than anything else in this category. For me, a little bit of this a day seems to help - and I didnt look into it until I saw this was an ingredient listed in my naturopaths thyroid supplement. It's an interesting 'food'! However, if you have glucose control issues (and I do), you may want to look elsewhere..remember molasses comes from the initial boilings of sugar cane..very close to unprocessed sugar in its glycemic profile.> >> > Ok, I'll make this real short then.
