I've been on Enbrel for a year the 22nd of this month, and on Bextra

for a little longer.

Enbrel works very well for me. It has helped the pain and inflammation

tremendously, and helps the fatigue to some extent. I'm not sure how

much the Bextra helps, but I'm taking it for my osteoarthritis.

with ra,

1.what meds are you on?

I am on plaquenil and relafen. Used to take motrin.

2.for how long?

I've been on the anti inflamatories for about 6 years now, and the

plaquenil for 1 year.

3.do you think it helps?

The meds have helped sofar, but I may have to go to stronger

anti inflamatories. i'm meeting with my rheumatologist soon.

4. Do you have any other autoimmune disease? (such as lupus,

or thyroid or itp etc.)

I am hypothyroid.

5. Do you take anything other than prescription meds to help with

your ra? And what are they if yes?

I have lost about 38 pounds on the Atkins diet. That has really

helped. The pain in my knee and foot joints has gone down

quite a bit. I also take my vitamin suplements more or less

faithfully. Lately, I have started on increasing the amount of

ginger in my diet, and I may go to the powdered form. Time will

tell if that helps.

thank you for your participation!

Bandit: Welcome to the group...I usually don't answer these type of

questions because they are RA specific, but you did inquire about

other autoimmune diseases, and this group is'nt just for RA, but

lupus, fibro, and other autoimmune diseases even tho the majority have

RA. I have scleroderma, but seeings how the joint problems are much

like RA I use enbrel, 3 shots a week and have had great relief from

it. I have been on it 2 years. I also tested positive recently anti-

Ro, and originally they also thought lupus was going on, also

hashimoto thyroid which they just diagnosed. Unfortunately there is

no sure treatment so they treat each problem as it arises, which I

feel is a great pain, because it causes you to be put on numerous

meds in my case I poison myself with 18 different meds a day...I

won't bore with the list;.]....thank you for letting me paticipate

in your questions even tho I don't hqve RA...and once again

welcome...Kathi in OK

Yes...esp. the Remicade, Zoloft and Ultracet. Not sure how much the

Plaquenil is doing at this point.
