Guest guest
Hello everyone: Wanted to share this letter with you I received from a dear friend. This friend is disabled (However, don't use that word in her presence) and has been since birth with CP. Besides one side being terribly atrophied, she has a severe speech impediment. This never stopped her....in fact, I think if anything it gave her challenges to overcome that she knew she could do with hard work. In her late 20's, she started back to school (not having finished high school) and worked toward her Bachelor's in College. It took her awhile and she was finally able to graduate and went to work for the state welfare system as an intake case worker. After working there a few years, she decided to go back to school and eventually graduated with her Master's. At that time, she went to work for a non-profit organization that dealt with handicapped (sorry, challenged) people to give them a better life. She worked several years for them in conditions you would not believe. As she is short and has the limitations on the one side, both hand (and arm) and leg, she should have had a proper chair but was never given one. She was made to sit on a tall barstool and work at her computer on a shelf. She tried many times to tell them it was not the best conditions for her. They would not listen. It finally resulted in severe neck and back problems and forced her out on disability. By the time, her doctor released her to go back to work....they attempted to make changes, however, it was too late. She no longer was back at work for long when the back and neck became doubly severe so her doctor put her out on disability. She applied for SS not long afterwords because her doctor told her she would never be able to work again. She was approved in just a very few months and the pmts started and as you can see....the SS has now messed things up for her. Her husband adores her and wants her to fight this to the hilt and he will back her all the way. But as you can see from the email below, what she now has to put up with. Please keep her in your positive thoughts and prayers for her to be able to work this out with an acceptable way. She is now in her 50's and even if she were to be pronounced cured...it would be had for to find a job to hire her. I have not had to deal with SS, but I know many of of you had and I was just wondering if there were any thoughts or ideas you could pass along to her if you don't mind. Thanks so much. Jan in CA =^..^= @@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@ Hello,Well... here I go again dealing with Social Security.I received my Feb bank statement and noticed there was no direct deposit from SS on there. So I called the bank and they did confirmed that there was no directdeposit for the month of Feb. However got direct deposit for the months of Jan and March. I proceed to call Social Security to see whats up? Now this wherethe " fun " begins. Social Security claims they never got info on the direct deposit only to my mailingaddress. I said; now that is odd because the only month I did not get direct deposit was the month ofFeb. But of course they said;... " their computer shows... " Addition they show I was terminated.... Surprise to me... because never got a letter saying that I was being terminated. I asked what was thereason? (can you guess the reason?...smile). I am no longer disabled... FLASH NEWS ALERT, Mom... " I amnot disabled " .. smile. Well I have to gather all of my records and go in to the SS office. Even if or when Ido that there is no guarantee I'll turn " disabled again " or not..... oh well it was fun when lasted.... Nothing ever comes easy..... Close for now... Take care, ~ " We all take different paths in life, but no matter where we go, we take a little of each other everywhere.
