Wow, what a day.

Just to mention, I used to, when two incomes and time, get a message every

week or every other. I never felt sooooooo good. I wish I had time and

money to go back. When I told my message therapists about 's head and

neck problems he told me about cranial message and how a coworker did it.

Didn't go that route but may have tried if this tort/plag was caught earlier.

We are in the DOC Band too and no regrets or concerns here. I don't even

understand how they think it could cause neurological problems.

Hi Folks,

Thought I would vent for a moment................

I just returned home from my 7 year olds swimming lessons.

I was

unfortunately forced to be a captive audience to a massage therapist

who spent the entire time lecturing me about how I shouldn't be

doing

the d.o.c. band (mind you he didn't know what it was and had to

ask). He lectured me on how massage therapy was the way to

go, the

d.o.c. band didn't help the soft tissue. It was a waste of

time and

money....blah, blah, blah. And did I know that he would spend

the

remainder of his life with neurological problems because I didn't

take him to a massage therapist. Oh, and by the way, his

children

all had beautiful heads thanks to massage therapy from birth on....I

should take the d.o.c. band off and start therapy (at his practice)

immediately... OH, and physical therapist were a complete

waste of

time...ours hadn't really fixed his torticollis, she had merely

rearranged it and hidden it. He was going to call our pediatrician

immediately and try to set up an appointment to talk about massage

therapy for the crania.....he felt sure my doctor would be open

to it

now if he was prescribing the d.o.c.

band..............AHHHHHHHHHHHHHH! I tried

to be firm and polite,

but that didn't work. So I finally started lecturing him

back. I

explained about the success rates and our personal success and

how

pleased we were with the whole treatment process.

So he went back to his spill about how I would see neurological

problems for the rest of my son's life due to this treatment and

the

lack of massage therapy.

I know that ya'll can't do a thing about this....but I am so

irritated about it all that I thought you guys might let me vent.

I'll quit venting now. :)

One more thing, Sunday evening my 3 year old busted his mouth open

and had to have stitches. The E.R. doctor (who is actually

a very

good doctor...just ignorant about plagio) asked about Micah's band.

I told him he had plagiocephaly .... so the doctor says "Oh,

and the

band is gonna make his head smaller...wow! That's great!

:) I

explained it much greater detail, and he finally understood.

I guess

he missed that day in medical terminology class. :)

Thanks for listening,

Laurie in Tuscaloosa

Oh Laurie, what a frustrating experience. We had something similiar happen,

we were also approached by a massge therapist who looked at Abby in her band

and he said " you know, you could fix that with your hands. " We just kept

walking, I wanted to say " like right, I'm gonna trust you, you aren't even a

doctor! " :)Kimry

  • 5 months later...

That article makes us seem like

overprotective parents who worry about the most trivial things.

I read an article (on line) a few months ago that said that us parents

using helmets were "out to make our children in the All American Gerber

Baby"!!!

Anyone remember that one? If you know where to find it, let us

know!

GGGGRRRRRRR!!!!!

There is a lot of venting going on here today.

I myself did it a few

posts ago. I guess we are all getting sick and tired of defending

our decisions and for doing what we feel is best for our kids.

People really don't understand things unless they go through it

themselves. It seems that there are many people out there

that feel

that we should be happy to have a child with Plagio rather than

a

child who dies from SIDS. This makes no sense. (It's

like

saying "would you rather have a runny nose or no nose at all?")

It's

a dumb way of looking at it.

I personally don't want either. That article makes us seem

like

overprotective parents who worry about the most trivial things.

We

are not vain. This is not a matter of plastic surgery for

a 13 year

old who doesn't like her appearance.

Oops...here I go venting again. I can't seem to help myself

today.

Please forgive me.
