Guest guest
Hi all, I have a couple of questions that needs answers please. Haydn had decompression surgery in Dec 98. after the surgery many of his sympoms such as GERD,sleep apnoea, mood swings, drowsiness and zone outs (possibly partial complex seizures-awaiting dx for this) either improved drastically or disappeared altogether. Now they're all back. The hardest for me to deal with are the mood swings. His nsg never hinted at a recurrence of his symptoms and when I asked the question I was told in effect that I wouldn't have anything to worry about.Judging from the posts I read it's quite common for symptoms to reappear. Have the nsgs not made a connection or are they knowingly wiithholding this info or what? Also I'd like to know if anybody who has other diagnoses has this problem with specialists. Haydn has an NSG,a respiratory specialist,an opthalmologist,a gastroenterologist,an ENT,a urologist,a paediatrician,an ortho and also has a physical therapist an occupational therapist and a speech therapist involved in his care.BUT none of them talk to each other so his various problems often get treated as separate conditions rather than linked ones. It is known for instance that sleep apnoea is symptomatic of chiari and that memory problems are symptomatic of ACC(another of Haydns diagnoses)but nobody has ever looked at this? Any ideas please.I'm getting quite depressed about all this. I'm just about fed up with fighting constantly to make people who should already know aware of Haydn. I'm sick of fighting every step of the way to get him what he needs and I'm fed up with him having unnecessary tests and procedures simply because the docs won't bend their stiff necks and talk to other specialties and certainly won't listen to me.After all what do I know,I'm just his mother. Sorry for the venting. I'd appreciate any advice anyone can give me. Regards Trish in New Zealand
