Guest guest Posted January 15, 2008 Report Share Posted January 15, 2008 Adjusted BMI for amputees: Weight E (kg) HT (m) x HT(m) for amputees: Weight E = Weight C (1-P) E=Estimated C=Current wt (post amputaion) P=Percent amputation Example: 5'8 " 135 lbs with a BKA AKA 10.4% (1-P)= 0.896 (1- 0.104) BKA=7.1% (1-P)=0.929 (1- 0.071) 135 divided by 0.929 X 705 = 22.1 68 x 68 For a bilat amputee, then you would do P = 1-14.2% (or 1 - 0.142) = 0.858 using above example I get BMI of 23.98 Of course you'd have to know the person's pre-amputation HT Diane Baum, RD, LD/N Mohrman wrote: Hello group!
