Guest guest
Sorry my posting has been group posting mostly. I have had a long couple of weeks. I have had a job lay off hanging over my head for the past 6 weeks. It is scary when you are almost 50 (April 29) and you are your sole source of income...and medical insurance for the RA- especially when you are undergoing as expensive a treatment as Remicade. I was notified of the lay off a week ago Friday. There was something of a silver lining...I was offered a staff job back in Saginaw with the same program doing Fair Housing. It will be a reduced salary- but a little less stress and driving. The rest is pride and I will work through that. Thanks to all who prayed for Joan's kitty Sherlock...she is still mourning but I will pass on prayers. It was so sudden. On a positive note, I almost hate to say out loud, Cyrano, Sharon's lovebird is doing fine. So are Clancy and Riley and McGee. One additional prayer request...although I am not sure he needs prayers as much as do his " flock " . Our Bishop, Ken Untener, passed away at age 66 with complications from leukemia. I considered him a friend and mentor in church work ( preaching in particular) and in community work. We loved and respected the guy right to his toes. He was only diagnosed about a month ago. I lost my own dad 16 years ago last Monday - at age 66- two weeks before Easter- of complications from leukemia. The death seemed to hit doubly hard for that reason. Pray for him and his family and the Diocese of Saginaw - that his touch will remain here and we will once again know the kind of compassionate and decent leadership we have known and loved in Ken. Hugs and love,
Guest guest
At least you aren't wondering anymore, . Sorry about your job, but it's good that there is another one for you. I hope that means there won't be any insurance problems. That's sad news about your bishop and friend, especially since it was so sudden. You are in my prayers. I'll tell you where to go! Guest guest
, So sorry about the job layoff. Maybe that new job is just what the doctor ordered and the reduced stress will be a big bonus. I hope your new job has benefits that will cover the Remicade. I¹m sorry about the loss of your Bishop. I know the circumstances of his death brought back painful memories of what your dad went through. a
Guest guest
Thanks, a. I don't want to confuse folks...I was only technically laid off. My position as supervisor was done away with. Had I not accepted the staff position in fair housing with the same organization - the offering of which was not a given- I would really have been laid off. I received lay off notice the day it was to take effect- March 26- along with acceptance of offer of staff position to begin on March 29 ( following Monday). Our Bishop died on the Saturday between those dates. He had only announced his illness on February 13. He was not just my bishop - we had gotten to know one another through the diocesan preaching program I teach in and I considered him a friend and mentor - as did many. My Remicade is safe. I have the same benefits - part of the reason I accepted the staff position. We had just begun to pay for those benefits from our salaries- so now all I have to do is learn to live on an even more reduced salary and deal with some pride issues with regard to reporting to a woman who I had supervised ( looong story). Some upsides though....less overall stress - once I finish caseload I still have open in Saginaw and Port Huron. Less driving once the same is accomplished ( I was driving at least 210 miles a week - once a week and often more- just for the commute). All of which my doctors are happy about. I feel a little ragged around the edges but I appreciate the support I received here. > , > So sorry about the job layoff.
