Guest guest
I spoke with Dr. Glassner again today. (Dr. Glassner of Mainline Fertility, Bryn Mawr, Pa) I have had a GREAT DEAL of NEGATIVE feedback from physicians about the " claims " of this HERS recommended physician. No doctor, including my PCP and several gyns, " believes " that this surgery is possible! In other words, I have been told repeatedly that I am being " duped " and that this guy is " not being honest " with me.... and that this surgery is " impossible " . For those of you who may not know, I was promised a bikini incision, no matter the size of my uterus or number or type or location of fibroids. I was told blood loss would be no more than 1/5 of a quart. Chance of regrowth was given as 10%. I had to speak to the doctor today to ask some routine questions, and when we were talking I mentioned the skepticism I have encountered and that I was taking alot of flak for " believing " what he can do. Dr. Glassner responded that he did two myo's today, and the blood loss was 100cc's on one and 10cc's on the other. This is very minimal. As I understand it, the amount of blood taken in a standard blood test is 50 cc's. Dr. Glassner went on to say that one woman drove in from Michigan, had surgery today under epidural, it went very smoothly and easily for her, and she will be driving home on Friday! I asked about post op pain meds and he responded that most patients are on Motrin by the time they go home. Oh! One last thing, I asked him whether there would be a hysterectomy consent form. He said there is a consent form, but it does not contain the possibility of hysterectomy. He said there is NO CHANCE this will turn into a hysterectomy. I would like to mention that I checked and Dr. Glassner is a " Fellow " with the American College of Obstetrics and Gynecology. He is, of course, Board Certified. He is on staff at the best hospital in his area. He has published articles on fertility, and surgery. I am having trouble coming to terms with how it is that this man can do this surgery, and so many others ADAMANTLY DO NOT BELIEVE it is even possible! I mean, what is going on in the medical community, and more specifically, in the GYN community? Why isn't this surgery being offered all over? I just don't get it. Dr. Glassner ended the conversation by telling me that he was certain I would be surprised at how easy a time I would have and how well I would do. I was tempted to ask him to participate in this forum! I will keep you all posted. I am scheduled for the third week of April. - Candace
