Guest guest
Janie, I have been taking Humira for awhile, it stings a little, but I have a few tips that might help. Before the injection I put a cold pack on the site for a few minutes. You are right leave the injection out to warm up for about 15 or 20 minutes. When you inject the Humira, inject it slow. I find the slower I inject the less there is burning from the Humira. If there is swelling, or discomfort you can use a cold pack again. Hope this helps, Tawny in OK > Coming out of my lurkers closet to ask a question of you on Humira. I just took my first Humira injection a few days ago......the injection stings so much! Is this usual? I did let it sit out about10-15 minutes before injecting, should I have waited longer? Having used Enbrel for nearly a year with no stinging, I was surprised with this first injection of Humira stinging so badly. It started stinging as soon as I started injecting, so I gave it slowly injecting the entire continents. The stinging stopped shortly after the needle was withdrawn and the injection site didn't cause any problems, no swelling or discoloration. Should I expect this with each injection..... thanks for any suggestions? > > Janie in OK > >
Guest guest
My stinging at first was so awful I felt faint. My husband gives me the injections and it felt like I was being stung by thousands of bees. It lasted for about 10 minutes. I have been getting the injections for about 4 months and just lately they don't sting as bad but still hurt. I have tried an ice pack, numbing cream (prescription), letting it warm at room temperature for up to a half hour, etc. I have been told by the manufacturer that it is probably the preservative in it, I think it's citric acid, that causes the stinging.
