I live in a small town, and at present I pay $10 for a cut. Only it's

not so decent! I switched from my old hairdresser because she cut my

hair too short (for $13), even though I'd always tell her not to scalp

me. This one did great to start with, didn't cut it too short, but now

she does it, too. This time I told her she cut it too short last time,

but she proceeded to cut it just as short again.

Once I got my hair cut in Walmart in a neighboring town, and I might

try them again. I believe they charge $15 for a cut, wash and blowdry.

I don't tip when I get a haircut.

Around here (near St. Louis) the average price is $15 but you can find some of

the uppity places that charge $50 or more. I was desperate one time for my boys

to get a haircut before a holiday and the mall was closing and had to pay $25

for a haircut! I usually go to a local salon that has young girls working

there. For me it doesn't matter but for teens they seem to know just what they

want. If it would be something I would suggest, forget it! But, the same

suggestion from a young, cool girl makes all the difference.

Forgive me for this off-topic question, but I just came from a new

salon and the price for my haircut was $38! What is the average price

for a decent cut these days? And how much do you tip? I didn't tip

today--I thought $38 was enough for 20 minutes of " labor " !

Thanks,

Sierra

Hey Sierra,

Check this out. I had my hair done in Vegas for my daughter's wedding and it

intailed no shampoo just an updo that was very simple. $125. I almost had a

heart attack. My daughter's was more. After they were all done she asked them

to put in a small tiara. $25more. Needless to say, we have not had our hair

done in Vegas lately.
