Guest guest
Did you know... that olanzapine (Zyprexa) may be associated with the onset of binge eating disorder? That sibutramine (Meridia) may improve symptoms of sleep apnea? That lamotrigine (Lamictal) may inhibit motility of the oviducts, thus potentially affecting fertility? That mirtazapine (Remeron) has been found to increase leptin levels? That's the kind of information I just spent the last 6 months researching and compiling in order to update my CD-rom. You will have these references plus many, many more in the updated version of Nutritional Implications of Psychotropic Medications. In addition to updates on common medications, new fact sheets have been added for lisdexamfetamine (Vyvanse), pregabalin (Lyrica), melatonin and ramelteon (Rozerem). In addition to metabolic effects of these medications, I've included as many off-label uses for each of these medications that I could find. It's important not to assume that because someone is on a psych med, that they have a psychiatric diagnosis. This information can be incorporated into counseling to encourage medication compliance, which in turn enhances your value to your treatment team. This new publication will be ready to ship January 31, 2008. Any orders received on or before this date will be charged the 2007 price ($34.95 plus shipping), a $15 savings. (You won't be charged until your order is shipped). I hope this reference (and my own obsessive-compulsive love of neuro research) benefits and supports all of you in your clinical work!
